About Norfolk Heritage Park
Norfolk Heritage Park was originally designed under the
guidance of the 13th Duke of Norfolk. In 1848, it became one of
the first parks in the country to be opened free to the general
public. Te park's historic landscape is nationally important and
has been designated as a grade 2 listed park by English Heritage.
About the Friends Group
The Friends of Norfolk Heritage Park were formed in 1994
to protect Norfolk Park from decline and misuse. The group has worked
hard to address these issues and membership numbers have flourished.
Our main aim is to bring a new lease of life to the park.
Fundraising
The friends of Norfolk Heritage Park joined together with
Sheffield City Council and other community partners to work on the
succesful bid of £2.4 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
This money has helped to restore and renovate the park into a resource
to be proud of once again. 1999 and 2000 were key years for all
involved in the regeneration of the park, and due to everyone's
hard work, the Centre in the Park and the new playgrounds are now
open.
