Just wondering what the plans are for publicising the Sheffield Fayre this year. The park is now a great asset but it seems that other events in the city, like Mayfest, seem to get more press - resulting in bigger turnout and higher profile.
Rather than concentrating on just local awareness, are we (sorry - royal 'we') aiming to have a Sheffield wide campaign so we can share our good news and revitalised park with all in the city?
I ask only because many of my friends at work were unaware that we'd even had Ballet in the Park - a prestigious event - and were disappointed to have missed it.
Thanks.
Ps. Great site.

In response to the last message posted at the beginning of August (we apologise for the delay in reply) I understand your concerns about the lack of advertising Sheffield Fayre and other large events in the park.
However there are a number of reasons for this. Firstly Sheffield Fayre is free entry event (as you will know) and therefore we do not have to budget to spend on advertising to the same scale as events such as Mayfest.
Wherever possible we have to negotiate and take up the offer of free advertising space such as on Supertram, the rear of JC Decaux stands and erecting banners on roundabouts.
The budget that we allocate on advertising is concentrated primarily around the local area, as funding that we receive from organisations such as grant making trusts is to encourage local residents to participate in the event and visit the park.
A limited amount of the budget is allocated to other media coverage (usually in the Star and Telegraph and on Radio Sheffield) and the printing of flyers and posters which are targeted at the local area. We are always looking for willing volunteers to distribute flyers!!!
Having said all the above I think that you will agree the event was a success and thankfully the weather held out on us! We welcome any members of the local community to help us plan Sheffield Fayre and other large scale events in the park.
If you or anyone else would like to help plan Sheffield Fayre 2005 our first planning meeting is the Management Committee AGM on the 9th Nov 2004 at 5.30pm at Centre in the Park.
If you have any other feedback about the Fayre we appreciate your comments!!!
Thank you
Claire
